About Cathey's Sewing & Vacuum, Inc.
Cathey's was founded by Friou Cathey, Sr. and his wife Myrtle in 1954 on Stone Avenue in Tucson, Arizona. In 1958 the business moved to Campbell Avenue. Originally, Catheys only sold vacuums and expanded to the sales and repair of sewing machines in the 1960s. As a family business, Friou Jr. and Donny worked with their parents running the store until Donny opened an additional store on Speedway Boulevard in 1978.
Today, Catheys has three locations at 5701 E. Speedway, 8700 N. Oracle, and 18805 S. I-19 Frontage Rd. Sahuarita. Still, a family business, Donny and Janice Cathey own and operate Catheys with the assistance of their children Matthew, Troy, Andy, Carly, and Geordy. Catheys 35 employees also share the family values and traditions started by Friou and Myrtle over 60 years ago.
Catheys is proud to represent Baby Lock, Bernina, Brother, Janome, Juki, Pfaff, and Viking sewing machines as well as all the top vacuum brands. The skilled educators and mechanics at Catheys offer in comparable sales, support, and repair on all brands of sewing machines, portable vacuum cleaners, central vacuums. In addition, Catheys is proud to offer Southern Arizona high-quality home theater systems.
