April 6, from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm local Relay For Life teams meet at Rancho Resort park, 15900 S Rancho Resort blvd. (across I-19 from Fry's) to honor and memorialize those who have been touched by cancer. Starting at 11:00 am with the survivor lap and sociial, teams walk or sit near the track In Honor of Cancer Survivors and in Memory of those who lost their cancer battle. Teams walk the breast cancer lap and other specialty laps throughout the day and at 7:00 pm past the lighted luminaria bags while names on the bags are read out loud. They celebrate with decorated tents, sell food and raffle off items to help raise dollars to fund cancer research for the American Cancer Society. The University of Arizona is often a recipient of funds raised for cancer research grants. To join the event, register as a survivor, join a team, donate or purchase a luminaria bag, go to www.relayforlife.org/gvsahuaritaaz. For more information contact Ginny at rflginny@gmail.com.

The dynamic duo will be returning to Arizona on a Concert Tour. They are well loved performers that present a perfect blend of hot jazz, sultry blues and cabaret. Otey's piano and vocals are hot and steamy. Van Deurzen sings sweetly.

Curated by Jane M. Farmer, this exhibit showcases Okura’s work in three-dimensional wood art that solidified Okura’s independence from a more traditional work to a more direct interpreatio of his relationahip with nature. During his lifetime (1935-1994) he traveled throughout the United Stated but especially responded to what he saw in nature in the southwest where he absorbed the landscape and scale of these open spaces.
Okura’s work has never been strongly influenced by the work of other artists, but was consistently concerned with a very direct interpretation of his own relationship with nature. He first traveled to the American southwest in 1969 and always loved this part of the world.. Many of the works on display come from the collection of his sister, Taka Okura, a current resident of Green Valley, Airzona.
